What Happens After You Lose Weight? You Keep It Off.

Importance of a Maintenance Program

Enjoy long-term results with professional guidance.

It is not easy to lose weight. However, anyone who has lost weight can tell you that it’s much harder to maintain the weight loss than to lose it. Weight maintenance is a constant struggle and we have perfected a plan that will work for you.

How it Works

Losing weight is a challenge; but keeping the weight loss is a life long battle. We find that it’s much easier to maintain your weight loss if you lose it in a slow and steady fashion.

1.

Healthy Weight Loss

Normal healthy weight loss is considered 1 to 3 pounds per week. Sure, you may have weeks where you lose 5 pounds, but you will also have weeks where your weight stays the same. It’s all about modifying your lifestyle so that once you reach your goal weight, you are able to stay at that goal without constant struggle. Eating healthier foods and in smaller portions is key.

2.

Physical Activity & Exercise

Another important factor is exercise. You must exercise if you plan to stay at a healthy weight for an extended period of time. Don’t worry, you don’t have to join a gym or hire a trainer if that’s not your thing. But, you do need to move—even if it’s only for 10 minutes at a time.

3.

Continued Appointments During your maintenance appointment, we will go over all of your numbers like we did in the initial consultation. We will compare your weight, your body fat, your muscle mass, your BMI. Then we will adjust your daily calorie requirements, your protein and water intake and your exercise goals. We always welcome our maintenance patients to continue to come in for routine weigh-ins- something we offer at no charge. We will also discuss what, if any, supplements will be helpful during your long term weight maintenance journey. We are able to develop a plan for you based on your lifestyle, travel plans, job type, etc. Whether you live around the corner or across the country, we can customize a plan for you.

4.

Maintenance Phase & Re-Gain

Patients are considered to be on maintenance phase of our program as long as they maintain a weight within 5% of their goal. If you happen to gain more than 5% of your weight back, it’s time to get back on the full program. It’s easier to come back to us if you have re-gained 5-10 pounds, versus 30 to 40.
